Some designs find you. You're not looking for them — you're just standing at the laser, adjusting a setting, and suddenly a flower unfolds across a piece of white oak and you think: there it is.
That's how the Engraved Floral Collection started. Not with a mood board or a market trend, but with a moment of recognition. Nature has always known how to make something beautiful. We just learned how to translate it into wood.
The Art of Engraving on Wood
Laser engraving on a serving board isn't just decoration — it's a conversation between the design and the grain. Every piece of wood responds differently. White oak shows the engraving with crisp contrast. Acacia, with its swirling, caramel-toned grain, makes the florals feel almost painterly, like the wood itself is part of the composition.
We spend time with each slab before we engrave it. We look at where the grain runs, where the color shifts, where a knot or a figure might interact with the design. Then we position the artwork intentionally — so the flowers feel like they grew there, not like they were stamped on.
The Florals We've Fallen For
Our floral collection has grown organically (pun very much intended). Each design starts as a hand-drawn or digitally refined illustration before it ever touches wood. A few of our favorites:
Sweet Mock Orange — Delicate five-petaled blooms with a softness that pairs beautifully with the warm tones of acacia. This one always stops people. There's something about the simplicity of it that feels timeless.
Highland Cow with Wildflowers — Okay, not purely floral, but the florals are the heart of it. A Highland cow wreathed in blooms on white oak is the kind of thing that makes a kitchen feel like a home.
Each piece in the collection is a limited run. When the slab is gone, that exact board is gone. The engraving pattern may return, but the wood — the grain, the color, the character — never will.
More Than a Serving Board
We hear from customers who hang these boards on their walls. Who give them as wedding gifts, housewarming gifts, "just because" gifts. Who tell us they can't bring themselves to put cheese on them.
(We gently encourage them to use the boards. That's what they're made for. But we understand the feeling.)
A floral engraved board from Triple Bay Made is designed to live at the intersection of functional and beautiful. It should hold your charcuterie on a Friday night and catch the light on a Tuesday morning when it's just leaning against your backsplash, doing nothing but looking like art.
Caring for Your Engraved Board
- Hand wash only — warm water, mild soap, dry immediately. The engraving can trap moisture if left to soak.
- Oil the whole surface — including the engraved areas. Food-grade mineral oil keeps the wood from drying and the engraving looking sharp.
- Avoid abrasive scrubbers — they can soften the edges of the engraving over time. A soft cloth or sponge is all you need.
- Display proudly — a board stand or a simple hook on the wall. These are made to be seen.
